Position

Storfors is located between Oslo and Stockholm. The municipality has a well-developed public transport system with buses and trains. The sports school has a primary school and a preschool, which are offered at five locations in the municipality. Outside the municipality is the private Lundsberg School, where several members of the royal family have studied over the years, including Prince Carl Philip. There is a 9-hole golf course near the school. Storfors has both a forest and a lake nearby, and a total of 570 kilometers of beaches. The Bergslag Canal offers activities such as boat trips, lock-breaking, canoeing, and fishing. In winter, cross-country skiing is possible on the canal. The Bjurbäcken locks are a popular destination, as is the cultural environment at Bjurbäcken, with its mill, blacksmith shop, and beautiful stone bridge. From Bjurbäcken, hiking trails lead to Rövarkulorna, where, according to legend, robbers lived in the 17th and 18th centuries, and to the silver mine, where silver was mined as early as the 15th century.
